The aim is not simply to complete today’s task. It is to help the student understand, practise and become more independent over time.

“Safina spotted within the first session that my daughter wasn't struggling with division itself, she'd missed the foundational concept of place value back in Year 2. Three targeted lessons later, and a topic that had caused months of homework tears was suddenly her 'favourite bit of maths.' The precision of her diagnosis was remarkable.”

“My daughter could write beautifully but couldn't finish an essay in timed conditions. Safina diagnosed the issue within one session: she was editing as she went, polishing every sentence before moving on. Safina introduced the 'speed draft' technique—get the whole argument down in rough, then refine. That single intervention added two full paragraphs to her exam responses.”

“Safina taught my daughter the language of GCSE mark schemes. She'd have her mark her own work against the official criteria, justifying why each mark was or wasn't earned. This meta-cognitive approach means my daughter now walks into exams knowing exactly what the examiner is looking for and how to demonstrate it. Her grade jumped from a 4 to a 7 in eight months.”

They analysed the Tesco-Booker merger for economies of scale, discussed Nike's response to a PR crisis for ethics in marketing, debated interest rate impacts using his own savings account as the example. The subject came alive, and so did his exam answers.”

“After just half a term with Safina, my son's teacher pulled me aside at pick-up to ask what we were doing differently. He'd moved up two Reading Colour bands and actually put his hand up to read aloud. For a child who used to shrink into his chair during literacy, that's nothing short of a miracle.”

“My son used to physically hide under the table when it was time for writing practice. Safina arrived with a whiteboard, coloured markers, and a superhero theme, and within twenty minutes he was crafting sentences voluntarily. She understands that engagement has to come before learning, especially at this age, and she is a master at finding the hook.”
Parent of a Year 2 Primary English Student

“What sets Safina apart is the way she narrates her own thinking out loud. 'Hmm, that word doesn't look quite right yet, let me try the other spelling and see which one my eye recognises.' My daughter has internalised that self-checking voice, and it's made her a far more independent writer.”

“Safina taught my son that being 'bad at maths' was never true, he just needed to find his way into the problem. She introduced him to concrete manipulatives for fractions, something his school had rushed past. He built the understanding physically, then pictorially, then abstractly. For the first time, the numbers made actual sense to him.”

GCSE Maths
“My daughter was predicted a Grade 3 in her GCSE Maths mock and was genuinely considering whether to sit the exam at all. Safina took her back to fundamentals but never made her feel patronised. She introduced a 'three-layer' approach to every topic: understand the concept, practise the skill, apply to an exam question. No shortcuts, no gimmicks. Her actual GCSE result was a Grade 6. We framed the certificate.”
Parent of a Year 11 GCSE Maths Student
GCSE Maths · Intensive Intervention
“The moment that captured Safina's approach perfectly was when my son got a quadratic equation wrong for the third time. Instead of frustration, she said, 'Brilliant, now we know two ways your brain doesn't process this, so we're closer to finding the one it does.' She reframes errors as diagnostic information, not failures. That philosophical shift alone has changed his relationship with maths permanently.”

“Safina identified that my son's issue wasn't mathematical ability, it was exam anxiety causing him to rush and make careless errors in the first ten questions. She designed a bespoke warm-up routine for the morning of the exam, taught him breathing techniques to reset between questions, and practised timed conditions until they felt normal rather than threatening. His mock-to-actual grade improved by two boundaries purely because he could now demonstrate what he actually knew.”
Parent of a Year 11 GCSE Maths Student
GCSE Maths · Exam Coaching
“For the first time, someone explained why trigonometry works rather than just drilling SOHCAHTOA. Safina drew the unit circle, showed the ratios visually, and then stepped back and let my daughter discover the patterns herself. That session fundamentally shifted her from memorising procedures to understanding mathematics. She now approaches unfamiliar problems with curiosity rather than panic.”

“My son thought 'analysis' meant spotting a simile and labelling it. Safina taught him that real analysis is asking why that simile, at that moment, for that character, and then connecting it to the writer's broader intentions. His poetry essay went from a thin paragraph to two pages of genuine critical engagement. His teacher wrote 'transformation' on his next marked piece.”

“Safina's method for tackling the unseen poetry question was brilliantly systematic. She taught my daughter a six-step reading framework, first impression, speaker, situation, structure, language, synthesis—that prevents the blank page panic. Now my daughter has a reliable process she can fall back on, and her unseen poetry marks have gone from 9/24 to 18/24.”

“Safina didn't just teach my son the text; she taught him the conversation around the text. They discussed Marxist readings of An Inspector Calls, feminist perspectives on Macbeth, colonial context for A Christmas Carol. He started dropping these insights into class discussion, and his teacher was visibly taken aback. He's now the student others turn to for interpretation ideas.”

“The transactional writing section was my daughter's lowest mark, and Safina identified the problem immediately: she was writing what she thought the examiner wanted rather than crafting a genuine, persuasive voice. Safina had her practise writing for real audiences—a letter to the local council about a park closure, a speech for school assembly about uniform policy. The authenticity that emerged lifted her mark from 18/40 to 30/40.”

“Safina taught my daughter a specific paragraph structure for 'evaluate' questions that moved her from description to genuine evaluation. Point, evidence, however, depends on, therefore. She practised it across every topic until it became automatic. Her teacher noted the improvement in command words specifically. Grade 5 to Grade 8 in nine months.”

“The calculation questions were dragging my son down. Break-even, cash flow, profit margins—he could explain the concepts but made errors in the maths under time pressure. Safina created a 'calculation bootcamp' of five-minute drills at the start of every session, building speed and accuracy incrementally. He went from losing 8-10 marks per paper on calculations to full marks.”

“I was sceptical about online tutoring for a subject like Business, but Safina's use of shared screens, live annotation of case studies, and collaborative mind-mapping was more interactive than any in-person lesson my daughter had experienced. She came off every session energised rather than drained, which for a teenager at 6pm on a Tuesday is genuinely remarkable.”

A-Level Business
“The difference between a B and an A* at A-Level Business is the quality of the wider reading, and Safina made this explicit from the first session. She curated a reading list—not books, but specific FT articles, Economist podcasts, BBC business segments—and taught my daughter how to integrate contemporary evidence seamlessly into her essays. She's now writing about strategic drift at Marks & Spencer using real shareholder reports, and her teacher is using her work as an exemplar.”
Parent of a Year 13 A-Level Business Student

“My son's financial ratio analysis was technically accurate but descriptively flat. Safina pushed him to ask so what? after every calculation. Gearing ratio is high, so what does that mean for risk? For growth? For shareholder confidence? This relentless pushing for implication transformed his written analysis from competent to sophisticated. He achieved an A* in his final exam.”

“Safina anticipated the exact topics that appeared on Paper 2. Not through luck, through years of forensic exam-board analysis. She tracked question patterns, identified gaps in the examiner cycle, and prioritised accordingly. “I was a confident student until my first university essay came back with a 52 and the feedback 'too descriptive, lacks critical analysis.' I didn't even know what that meant practically. Safina sat with me for two hours, took a paragraph I'd written, and showed me how to inject critique, challenging the author's assumptions, considering counter-evidence, evaluating methodology. My next essay got a 68. By final year, I was consistently in the 70s.”
Undergraduate Business Management Student, Year 2

“Safina didn't write my dissertation for me, she did something far more valuable. She helped me find my own argument. I'd been drowning in literature, unable to see the wood for the trees. She asked me three questions in our first supervision: What surprised you? What made you angry? What's the gap nobody's filled? Those questions clarified my entire thesis direction. I submitted with pride and received a First.”

“As an international student, I understood the content of my Strategic Management module but couldn't express my understanding at the level required. My sentences were grammatically correct but stylistically flat. Safina taught me the conventions of British academic prose, hedging, signposting, nominalisation, without ever making me feel deficient. She treated my multilingualism as an asset, not a problem to fix. My writing is now sharper, and so is my confidence.”
